Warm wishes to Daniele Zanotti, President and CEO of UWGT, with new appointment

On August 15, 2024, it was announced that Daniele Zanotti, President and CEO of United Way Greater Toronto, was appointed as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Abdi Hagi Yusuf, Chair of the LCS Board, shares a few words.

Dear Daniele Zanotti,

I would like to congratulate you on your new role as Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

With the Toronto & York Region Labour Council as a founding partner of United Way Greater Toronto in 1956, and the establishment of Labour Community Services to uphold the partnership in 1982, your leadership at United Way for the past 17 years, has shaped the way poverty and social justice is addressed today in the GTA.

It is with immense appreciation that we thank you for your collaborative effort in helping bring a greater understanding of how the Labour Movement and community work together to make our society a better place to live and work in. Because of this, United Way continues to be Labour’s charity of choice. Each year, thousands of union members rally to raise essential funds for United Way’s 300 community agencies, strengthening their communities and supporting the most vulnerable.

Your transformative work at United Way is a testament to your servitude, dedication and heart. We know the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services will be in good hands.

On behalf of Labour Community Services and the Labour Movement, thank you for your friendship and we wish you all the best.

In solidarity,

Abdi Hagi Yusuf

Chair, Labour Community Services Board
