Building Our Community Together
Union involvement in Labour-United Way (UW) activities is a great way to build both a strong union and be involved in the community.
The Labour Council was one of the founding members of United Way of Greater Toronto in 1956. Our work together led to a formal partnership and the creation of Labour Community Services (LCS) in 1983. Our partnership includes labour's active participation in:
- annual workplace fundraising campaigns
- the allocations process: funding to 270 member agencies
- the United Way Board of Trustee, Board of committees, and United Way campaign cabinet
- the Labour Community Services Training (LCAT) programs and other services to local unions and their members and families
If you would like to become a Labour Volunteer at UWGT, please contact Marcia Lopez at: [email protected] or [email protected].
