The Canadian Association of Labour Media (CALM) held their 2024 Annual Conference and Awards Banquet in Edmonton, Alberta, from June 7-8.
The CALM conference brings together union communications professionals, volunteers, presidents, secretaries (anyone who does communications for their union) and recognizes the work being done within their respective locals and labour organizations. This year, the Campaign to End Racism in Unions was recognized for best campaign by an agency.
In 2021, Labour Community Services, Toronto & York Region Labour Council and the Yes It Matters Campaign Committee started a project focused on ending racism in unions. With the help of labour leaders providing their insight, a campaign was launched, followed by the creation of the Anti-Racism in Unions Report. The work done in this project is part of the on-going fight for equity.
We thank everyone who took part in this project and encourage you to learn more about the campaign by visiting: https://www.labourcommunityservices.ca/antiracisminunions

Congratulations to everyone who also won an award.
Together, we can end racism!
