Presidents' Breakfast Kicks Off 2023 United Way Greater Toronto Community Campaign

2023 Presidents' Breakfast Attendees

United we can end poverty

Labour Community Services of Toronto, Labour Community Services of Peel, Toronto & York Region Labour Council and Peel Regional Labour Council, have collaborated for the 3rd year in a row to host the annual Presidents' Breakfast, inviting Labour leaders throughout the GTA to support and kick-off the 2023 United Way Greater Toronto Community Campaign.

Coming together as part of the Labour Movement, we:

  • Learned about Labour and United Way's long-standing history, the impact of our support, and how together, we can end poverty
  • Heard inspiring messages from each speaker
  • Discussed how our shared vision with United Way supports not only the communities we call home, but strengthens them.

In 2022, United Way impacted the lives of 2 million people, many of which are workers and the members we serve, if not our neighbours, family and friends. From housing to food insecurity, refugee support and safety from domestic violence, United Way works to provide a social safety net people can turn to. Labour Community Services is a project of Toronto & York Region Labour Council, and from it, programs such as the Labour Community Advocate Training Program empowers union members to become referral agents in their workplaces and communities where they can help to share some of those United Way-funded resources.

The annual Presidents' Breakfast is an annual reminder of our collective power as a movement to make an impact. United, we can end poverty.

On behalf of the 2023 United Way Labour Volunteers and Labour Liaisons, thank you for your continued support. A special thank you to IBEW 353 for opening their facility to us for the event, and to Fred Victor Centre's Friends' Catering for providing the breakfast. If you have any questions on how you can become more involved with United Way, please contact a Labour Liaison below.
