Building Our Community Together
Union involvement in Labour-United Way activities is a great way to build both a strong union and be involved in the community.
The Labour Council was a founding member of United Way of Greater Toronto in 1956. Our work together led to a formal partnership and the creation of Labour Community Services (LCS) in 1983. Our partnership includes labour's active participation in:

  • annual fundraising campaigns
  • the allocations process: funding to member agencies
  • the United Way executive, board committees and task forces
  • direct LCS educational programs and services to local unions and their members and families
